This autumn we have been blessed with beautiful, sunny, warm weather. The colors are just outstanding this year. I honestly don't remember ever seeing this many colors driving down the road. They are just blazing everywhere I look. Last week on thanksgiving monday, I took my kids down the road to the Conestoga Dam. The lower park. I captured so many pictures of them playing in the leaves and sitting by the water. I just wanted post a few of them up. Your eyes will immediately notice the trees. They're that bright.

Stacy and Dan
I'm posting these for Stacy and Dan. A couple whose wedding I did the very end of August. I wasn't going to put their pictures up, but feel really bad that they haven't been able to come and pick up their wedding pictures yet. They've been really busy on the farm ( I know how it is). Especially in the fall with all the field work and combining and catching up on all the fall cleanup chores. There just aren't enough hours in the day. So I thought I'd stick a few pictures up here for a sneak peek.
This couple was a lot of fun. Willing to do anything. Most of the time I didn't even have to guide them. They were so lost in eachother that I just kept snapping their little moments. You can definately see the love these two have for one another by the way they look at eachother. Indeed, the easiest couple I've ever photographed. You guys are great!!

Mike and Nicole
So finally I'm posting pictures from a wedding I did last month. It was a beautiful outdoor autumn wedding. Nicole is a cousin of my husband Mike, So it was a real honour when she asked me to photograph their wedding. The ceremony was very personal and intimate, and the reception was laid back and relaxed. I had a great time. Thank you guys for letting me share in your special day.
Sweet Kallan
Today I had the pleasure of photographing a little guy named Kallan. A sweet, adorable, lovable little boy. He was constantly smiling at me and also sticking stones in his mouth. And I just wanted to pinch his cheeks, he had this cute little expression where he squished his little nose. What a little pumpkin. His mommy, Becky and I went to highschool together, so it was great to see her and catch up on life with her.
Here's a little sneak peak for you Becky. I love your little boy.

In Memory of Opa Deen
Today has been a rough day. Our Opa passed away last night in a fire at the nursing home that he lives in. It was sudden and a real shock to the family. No one knows as of yet what has really happened. All we know is that the fire was in his room and may have started from his oxygen tank. It happened last night at 9:30. The residence at the nursing home were evacuated and stayed either at families homes or at the Drayton Arena. The family is in the process of making arrangements as we speak.
Mike and I broke the news to our kids this morning. We gave them the option of going to school they still wanted to go to school, which may have been a good distraction for them, but I can tell that it's really hitting them hard now that they are home from school and had the day to digest the news.. Summer is very sad. She said "Oma died and now opa died, They live together with Jesus in heaven."
If we could all look at life through a childs eyes. Simple and to the point. We'll dearly miss Opa as we remember him and the things that made him 'opa'. I remember the last time I saw him, at Stacy's wedding, joking around with me while I was taking his picture. THat's how he was with my kids too. Joking and kidding around, especially with Ian.
Rest in peace Opa Deen.

Work all day, maybe a little play
Well, today is going to be a full day of proofing. I have lots to catch up on. Wedding proofs to finish up and lots of family shoots to touch up. I love my work and I love my computer, but the weather this week is unbelievable. So warm and sunny. My husband and father in law are busy in the fields harvesting the corn ( another one of my favorite things of fall). My husband Mike is just is in his high glory when they take off the corn. Especially when we've been blessed with this gorgeous weather and a very abundent crop. It make working outside so much more fun. Something I wish I could do this week. I'm going to take a break later on this afternoon though. I have to meet with my daughter Megans' teacher after school, and then I'm hoping to do a shoot with my kids at the neighbors apple orchard, if my lovely children will cooperate. I can hear them now "aw mom, do we have to? we just did pictures on Sunday". Hehe. Oh the life of a photographers child.
Yesterday, my friend Jeannie phoned me from Texas. Her Husband Lawrence and her and their SIX children moved to a ranch down there in August. We miss them dearly. Especially my son Ian who was very best friends with thier son Jake. It was so great to hear from her. I also got to talk to little Kate, and Jo, and hear baby Bree too. It was an unexpected call and it just made my day.
This is my favorite picture of Ian and jake

Fabulous Fall
The new season is here. The taste of fresh picked apples off the tree, the stunning colors of the trees, the warm days and crisp cool nights, pulling out the sweaters, stacking firewood for the upcoming winter, pumpkins, farmers markets and thanksgiving. These are a few of my favorite things this time of year.
One of the best things in the whole world I love to do is take pictures in the fall. Nature's background is breathtaking with the changing colors. Driving down the road I'm always on the lookout for a perfect picture spot. It can be an amazing, abandoned stone house, an old rustic fence, or just a single, big oak tree. This year my family did our family pictures at the Elora Gorge. It is one of my most favorite spots. I'm a real water person, it just pulls me, so it's of no surprise to my closest family and friends that I made my kids sit in the water with me while my brother in law Chris took our picture. By the end of the afternoon, everyone was getting involved, playing around in the water. It was so much fun. It's days like that when I feel so blessed.
